Turn Your Burdens Over To God

I was just getting home from church one night. I hadn't been home since school got out. I had been on some errands, to math tutoring, a guitar lesson, Living Christmas Tree Choir practice and youth group. As I shut the door in my driveway and headed for my house I felt very tired and overloaded. I was also trying to carry everything. I was holding my guitar, school books, choir book, a bag of clothes I had bought, a few other things, and my purse. I was about to drop everything when I thought to myself that it might be a good idea to put some stuff down and just take two trips. But of course, I always try to do everything myself and only take one trip. I am often in a hurry for no reason.

So, I ended up barely making it to my room with all of my stuff. I pushed open the door with my leg and dropped everything and let out a sigh of relief. It reminded me of life. Sometimes when our lives get busy and hectic and problems arise, we try to handle everything ourselves -- when we could take life one day a time enjoying -- every moment of it. We could give our problems to God and trust Him with them instead of worrying. We could take life’s challenges one step at a time and not try to do everything ourselves. We could not try to do carry everything all at once.

Sometimes I go through the day doing everything but my devotionals and my quiet time with God. I let Satan tempt me into putting them off. Finally, when it is time to settle down and talk to God, I feel God's mercy and I know He has just been patiently waiting for me all day -- like no one else would. "The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.." -Psalm 103:8 says it right... As soon as I talk to God I feel relieved and at peace. I should learn to slow down... enjoy life --- not rushing and not doing too many activities... I should trust in God and let Him handle my worries...

I went on a trip to Virginia this past weekend with my best friend and my father. On our way home, I just looked out the window at God's creation and took the time to enjoy it. "The Lord is good to all' and His tender mercies are all over His works." -Psalm 149:9, is exactly how I felt...The beauty and strength of the mountains (more of God’s creations) amaze me. I said a prayer and just let the moment sink in.

This week when you take the time to view something beautiful, let the moment sink in; say a prayer and thank God for it. Don't try to carry everything yourself...Let God help and take your burdens for you...and, as always, tell others about the love and peace he freely gives.

We are called to be fishers of men (Matthew 4:19). And, we are called to be a witness. Plant some seeds this week so others can discover and grow in the peace and joy God wants to give to everyone. And have a great one!!!!

SEE YOU AT THE NEXT FCA MEETING!!!  Sarah
